A Message from the Chair of the Department

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is one of the seven academic departments at the Open University of Israel (OUI). Our faculty are leading researchers and exceptional educators, with 21 senior faculty members, 13 of whom are researchers in the field of Computer Science, and 52 dedicated teaching faculty. The department is committed to achieving excellence in both research and education, while fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

In recent years, we’ve experienced a significant and sustained increase in student enrollment and registrations for Computer Science courses. Today, the OUI is the largest university in Israel, and our department is the largest at OUI, responsible for approximately one-third of the university’s total teaching.

We offer graduate and undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Machine Learning & Big Data. Our academic programs are renowned for their rigor, high-quality learning materials, and strong academic foundations. By integrating traditional and distance learning methods, we provide a flexible, tailored educational experience that accommodates a diverse range of students, thereby implementing OUI’s mission to foster academic excellence and promote equal opportunities in higher education.
